Power in Prayer

Our prayers can be answered today because Jesus died on the cross and arose from the dead.  The prison doors were opened and we were set free.  The Jewish nation was seeking a messiah that would set them free from their pagan rulers.  The Jewish nation was seeking a messiah that would rule the whole world to bring peace and justice, and they were seeking God himself to dwell among them.  The Jewish messiah came and did all of that.  Once Jesus died on the cross and was resurrected, he set the Jewish nation free from bondage and fulfilled their mission as a Royal Priesthood thereby allowing the Holy Spirit to fill Jews and non-Jews alike.  Which enabled God to dwell in all of us.

You see our prayers that are in accordance with God’s will have power because of the cross.  The powers of darkness were overcome in Jesus’ death and resurrection.  Jesus conquered the ultimate rulers of darkness but the Jewish people wanted to rule over their rulers.  God forgave the sins of the Jewish nation and ended their exile through the cross.  This enabled salvation to come to all through Jesus.  We were brought salvation.  The old testament scriptures that foretold this were fulfilled, but not in the way that the Jewish nation thought.  But you see we have salvation because the Jewish nation’s exile ended.  Salvation came to us through their Jewish messiah, our messiah Jesus.  Now our goal as a Royal Priesthood is to glorify God and be his witnesses.  This is what they did in Acts.

The power of prayer in God’s will is so strong and alive that God moves on behalf of humans because forgiveness of sins has occurred.  Because we are made right with God and he dwells in us by the Holy Spirit.  What the cross accomplished was so revolutionary that it goes beyond what religion has made it today.  But we have hope!  We can turn to the scriptures and read for ourselves what God has intended for us!  We can glorify God by loving others and being representatives of Christ!  We have hope because he hears us and loves us!  We have hope because Christ is alive and will instruct us and then when all is said and done, we will be with him!  Lets live like we want to please him!  Let’s cast away all idols.  Lord, we come to you in prayer and ask that we are pleasing to you.  Thank you.

I Corinthians 1:18  “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.” kjv
