This chapter of Isaiah has striking words from God. He did not sell us off or put us away. We did! By thinking that sin is good and fun and by doing evil, we have sold ourselves. God says to whom of my creditors did I sell you? Why was no one there when I came? Why was there no one to answer when I called? Is my arm too weak to redeem? Or do I have no power to rescue? God called to help, but we did not answer. We were sold because of our sin. But God said, “I gave my back to those who beat me and my cheeks to those who tore out my beard. I did not hide my face from scoring and spitting.” God redeemed us from our sin on the cross. And even in the Old Testament he foretold of his great salvation towards us. Let’s not sell ourselves to sin anymore, but instead turn to God who will save us! Praise God!
